…THE BEST SNACK YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF.
Our lotus seeds derive from the water lily, India’s national flower.
They come from the roots of the plant, which can be found growing naturally in ponds and rivers across the country - nature’s answer to our snacking needs! To get from pond to pack, we work with aquatic farmers in Bihar, South India, where we sustainably harvest the lotus seeds, before leaving them to dry naturally in the sun. We then heat and pop each lotus seed to create the delicious, light and crunchy snack we love so much!
Once Mother Nature’s done her part, it’s down to our farmers to pick the seeds. It’s a skilled labour, popular amongst the Mallah community in Bihar, and is still done by hand - farmers will spend up to 5hrs a day collecting seeds from the bottom of the pond or river.
2. MOTHER NATURE’S HEAT
We like to skip on the machinery wherever we can - with the hot Indian sun at our disposal, drying our popped lotus seeds happens au natural. This is where the female members of the community get involved too, spreading the seeds out to dry in the sun for
3. ALL NATURAL FLAVOUR
And then we pop - just like you would when making popcorn at home. We then season with 100% natural flavourings - no different to those in your kitchen cupboard. No secrets, no hidden preservatives or artificial ingredients; just great flavours and an even better crunch.
